Reviews:
The entire novel An Island Like You projected different examples of how life is for "Nuyorican" children. The chapter Bad Influence focused on projecting the clash between cultural Puerto Rican and American values. I liked how acuratelly Puerto Ricans were displayed although it made us seem a little hick. With Rita, the author stated just how different Puerto Rico is from New York and belied the myth that stated that Nuyoricans and Puerto Ricans were the same.
